Wake Up and Lead

Today I thought about developing a lecture series and posting it on Skool.com. After a few keyword searches, I became bothered by everyone who claims to have awakened and is then simply selling others into a course on how to awaken themselves. It’s basically a generation of young people who realized how hard life is and are opting out because they fail to see the value in the true initiations of participation, integration, and giving it away to the next generation. I call them well drinkers.

These are the people who have found the well of civilization’s wealth and prosperity. And rather than contribute to it’s sustainability, they are drinking from it and teaching others how to drink from it. Not too long from now, there will be few left actually digging the well, and the well will run dry. At some point, it’s all of us who must pick up a shovel and dig.

If we all drink from the well and start retreat centers and communes in Bali and Tulum; who will treat the injured? Who will keep the roads clean, the cars running? Who will design and develop the next generation of robots? Who will do anything but create art? Yes, art is necessary; but so too are the development of new tools and mediums of communicating art.

Have we truly reached the singularity of technology building technology? Almost, but not fully—critically not yet.

Who will improve our cities and roadways, our devices and delivery infrastructure, our media and content? If we all just sit back and preach about waking up, when will the awakened leaders step into the responsibility of the project of civilization?

When did waking up become dropping out? I’m done with that noise.

Wake up, grow up, show up is the only way forward. (credit to Jamie Wheel for that phrasing) Waking up is seeing through the illusion of it all. This could be a mental breakdown, a philosophical insight, and ceremonial experience, or a mid-life crisis. Point is, this is when the individual realizes through direct experience that there is much more going on that meets the eyes. And much of this going on is unknown, unknowable, and impossible to communicate.

Growing up is the integration of these experiences into our core operating system such that we can navigate our world, relationships, and commitments with integrity. This requires re-engaging all we know and understanding again through the broader lens now available.

Thereafter, showing up is simply to take immediate actions towards and compatible with the world we know is possible. This is where we decide what to surrender and invest our lives into and why. This is the chopping wood and carrying water that is indistinguishable from the pre-awakening state, yet far more meaningful.

Yes, the world needs those who have seen through the matrix to step the up and lead it. It is not for every living soul to experience the insights any one of us has been blessed with. These experiences are our own. And with them, we are here to deliver the wisdom to our neighbors in a manner they can understand. In this way, we can contribute to the ultimate direction of the project of civilization. We can lead through contribution. And thereby, those whose dharma is not awakening can know that they are contributing to something true and good. Otherwise we do not only miss out on our true initiation into responsibility;

But when we drop out of the project of civilization, we do not only fail to pass the subsequent initiation of integration and receive all of the wisdom in these experiences. We also rob our neighbors, brothers, and sisters of their souls’ ascension in this lifetime and thereafter, through allowing the collective project to continue down an incomplete path. We are only as strong as are weakest members. And it is not about only the awakened ones. Those who are following the script, working in the rat race, and content with their level of awareness are not ‘wrong’ or ‘less than.’ They are in many ways our teachers; and even more, they are perfect exactly as they are.

Show up my friends, the rest will become clear.
